Aging is a complex and multifaceted process that affects all living organisms, leading to a decline in physical and mental functions. The search for effective anti-aging strategies has led to the exploration of medicinal plants with potential anti-aging properties. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-aging activity of some medicinal plants, including Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Turmeric (Curcuma longa), and Ginseng (Panax ginseng). The anti-aging activity of these plants was evaluated using various in vitro and in vivo models, including antioxidant assays, anti-glycation assays, and senescence-associated β-galactosidase (SA-β-gal) staining. The results showed that Ashwagandha, Turmeric, and Ginseng extracts exhibited significant antioxidant and anti-glycation activities, with IC50 values of 10.2 μg/mL, 15.6 μg/mL, and 20.5 μg/mL, respectively. Furthermore, these extracts also inhibited the activity of SA-β-gal, a biomarker of cellular senescence, in a dose-dependent manner. The extracts also showed significant protection against UV-induced skin aging in mice, as evidenced by reduced wrinkle formation, improved skin elasticity, and increased collagen synthesis. The results of this study suggest that Ashwagandha, Turmeric, and Ginseng possess anti-aging properties, which may be attributed to their antioxidant, anti-glycation, and anti-senescence activities. These findings provide scientific evidence for the traditional use of these medicinal plants in promoting healthy aging and preventing age-related diseases.
