Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a growing health concern worldwide, with an estimated 463 million adults living with the condition in 2019 (WHO, 2019). Medicinal plants have been used for centuries to manage diabetes, and many have been scientifically validated for their antidiabetic properties. This review aims to provide an overview of the current state of research on diabetic medicinal plants, highlighting their potential therapeutic applications phytochemical constituents, mechanisms of action, clinical efficacy and future prospects.
